Photographs

As with the rest of my art, I approach photography as capturing the Réalité Supplémentaire - the reality that exists when we dig a little deeper; the one, though in front of us, we often miss. Though, unlike most of my fine art where color is front and center, with my photographs, the artistic focus changes to composition and line and subject - a documentary of both the contradictions and synchronicities in all of our lives that happen from just being.
All photos taken with various iPhones.

"Waiting in Vain"
Musée national Picasso, Paris, France
This woman had been patiently waiting outside the Picasso Museum for almost an hour. The realization that someone has stood you up is one of the lesser human tragedies, but a tragedy nevertheless, and in Paris, twice as painful.

Other Artist's Art
Over the past few years, I've grown fond of taking photographs of people with other artist's art. There is a symbiosis that happens as one person interacts with the art of another - and for me - another work of art is born.

"Mona Lisa's Smiles"
Louvre, Paris, France
The number of smiles flashed in front of the world's most famous smile, must be countless. Here, perhaps more than anywhere, to connect to the art, we turn our backs to it.
"Touching Plensa"

Won't You Be My Neighbor
I have wonderful neighbor's. Occasionally, interesting, too.
"High Chair"
Nashville, TN
I have a neighbor who occasionally puts something he feels has value on his curb as a gift to the world. Usually there's no explanation why this object is there, but the underlying message is clear: first come, first serve.

"Sheriff's Dept Pick Up - Rusty Fan"
Nashville, TN
I have another neighbor who occasionally puts something that has absolutely no value on his curb for the Sheriff's Department. They come pick it up in a huge truck. The cost of picking up the item is far greater than the item itself.

Google Fiber spent over six months installing fiber optics to my neighborhood, only to get shut down by the government. I have Google Fiber in my front yard, but they are not allowed to install it in my house.

Sign of the Times
In order for a sign to exist there must be at least some thought, as well as several decisions made. The best signs are those that deny this fact.
